Meet Our GM - Kelly Pratt

  • Kelly Pratt

Q: What makes Wildwood, New Jersey a unique vacation destination?
A: There are so many amazing things to do and see in Wildwood that make it diverse and unique. The boardwalk is a MUST along with some curly fries, Sam’s or Mack’s pizza and an ice cream cone, but watch out for the tramcar! Morey’s Piers offers three piers, packed with wild rides ranging from mild to high-intensity. Then, cool off in one of their two water parks where you can hear the sounds of tropical music while sipping on a cocktail, floating in the lazy river or taking a plunge down one of the wild waterslides. And then, of course, there’s the ocean. Grab a towel and a beach chair and soak in all of God’s handy work.

Q: What is your favorite area restaurant?
A: Dog Tooth Bar & Grill. It’s open year-round, and I’ve never had a bad meal there, whether having a nice dinner or grabbing some munchies. Did I mention it’s only a block up from Esplanade?

Q: If you could only choose one local attraction that is a must-see, what would it be?
A: Oh boy - Just one favorite must-see? Well, I’m going to have to pick two. You cannot come to Wildwood without visiting the boardwalk. With that being said, my personal favorite is the Cape May Whale Watcher. I love being ON the water, and this boat ride never gets old. They do several trips throughout the day; the 1 p.m. trip lasts three hours and is the one where you can actually spot the whales (and they are so amazing to see). However, my favorite is the sunset cruise, where you can get a bite to eat, sip on a drink and take in the beauty of the sea, which is full of so many dolphins that swim right next to the boat. The captain gives you the history of Cape May and the fun facts about dolphins all while you enjoy the sunset- did I say AMAZING!

Q: What is your background in the hospitality industry?
A: I was born and raised in Cape May, which being a tourist vacation spot, means almost every job is in the hospitality industry. My first job was actually a ride operator on the Boardwalk, believe it or not, and I also worked at the widely famed Lobster House in Cape May for many years. I love being around people and don’t usually forget a face. When I became a mother (of three boys), my job was at home.

Q: How long have you been the GM at Esplanade Suites?
A: I started at Esplanade in 2009 and took the GM position in 2015.

Q: What is your favorite room at Esplanade Suites and why?
A: My favorite room at Esplanade would be 201, our studio type room. I love having tile throughout and the open, airy feel of the room. Also, room 201 along with room 301 are the only rooms that have a view of the beach and boardwalk.

Q: What makes Esplanade Suites different from surrounding hotels?
A: Esplanade has a modern, yet homey feel. We keep it family-oriented and put personal touches on everything. We also take pride in forming great relationships with the guests that have them return year after year; they come as strangers and leave as friends.
